Getting at Student Well-being through Community Building

November 28, 2022

Research tells us that there is a close link between learning and well-being. And yet not all students have equitable access to learning and well-being in our schools. Researchers and practitioners have been searching for strategies that will enhance students’ sense of well-being; one such approach is community building. In this session, we’ll learn more about the cultural nature of learning and how connecting with the communities we serve and building a sense of community within our schools can help our students build a positive sense of self as valued individuals and capable, lifelong learners who are ready to contribute to their communities.

During this one-hour Roundtable, Jeff Duncan-Andrade (Professor, San Francisco State University; San Francisco, USA) will make a short presentation and will then engage in a discussion based on questions and comments from participants in this live session.
