The OECD recently released its first report on the Survey of Social and Emotional Skills. The study included participation from cities in 9 countries. It included not only self-reporting by 10 and 15 year old students, but also ratings by their teachers and parents.
Amongst other findings, the report highlighted the intersect between social and emotional skills and feelings of inclusion. For example, students’ sense of fitting in at school and student-teacher relationships were positively related to social emotional skills. Also, boys reported a stronger sense of belonging, especially in the older age group. We’re privileged to be able to further explore these findings with the leads from two participating countries – Finland and Portugal.
